Admire the main religious and historical sites of Rome, including the Archaeological Area of the Colosseum, the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel. Don't miss the most famous areas of the city and follow in the footsteps of emperors and Roman citizens.
Start your experience at the Touristation Aracoeli office, located at Piazza Ara Coeli 16, where you will meet your guide and enjoy a 30-minute immersive multimedia 3D video about Ancient Rome, created by a renowned company with credits from UNESCO, BBC, and National Geographic. Witness the evolution of Rome through extraordinary visual narratives before venturing into the iconic monuments.
Next, stroll through evocative ruins and majestic palaces guided by our professional guide. Few places in the world are as haunting and majestic as the archaeological area of the Roman Forum and the Colosseum. Listen to your guide as they explain the history of the monument over the centuries. Begin with the Roman Forum, which over the centuries became the political, religious, economic, legal center, and marketplace of the ancient city. Here, admire and learn more about the Curia, the Arch of Septimius Severus, the Tabularium, the Temple of Saturn, and much more. Walk along the ancient Via Sacra to reach the most famous monument in the world: the Colosseum. Don’t miss the imposing Arch of Constantine as your guide describes its history and significant features. Constantine wanted to be celebrated and recognized as the new arbiter of Rome's destiny and chose a traditional monument rooted in imperial history: the Arch of Triumph.
Last but not least, the Colosseum stands as a testament to the greatness of ancient Roman engineering. It is the largest ever built by the Roman Empire. Your guide will tell you about the spectacular gladiatorial fights, naval battles, wild animal hunts, and other events that could last up to 100 days! Through their stories, you will gain insight into the displays of power and entertainment of the Roman Empire.
On the same day or the following day, take a journey through the highlights of the Vatican Museums during a 3-hour guided tour. Explore the Vatican Museums and admire the spectacular Sistine Chapel. From the Egyptian Museum to the Etruscan Museum, from the Greco-Roman section to the Renaissance Art Collections, there’s something for everyone.
Follow your guide to the best galleries and admire frescoes, statues, tapestries, and historical maps. Discover the Borgia Apartments with rooms painted by Raphael, the Vatican Pinacoteca, the Gallery of Maps, the Pinecone Courtyard, and much more. Continue to the Sistine Chapel to admire masterpieces by Michelangelo, Botticelli, Ghirlandaio, Pinturicchio, and Perugino.
